New York Times Arthur Brisbane Meme

Check out this New York Times ‘Truth Vigilante’ Arthur Brisbane meme

On Thursday New York Times public editor Arthur Brisbane (pictured throughout this post repeatedly) asked if the New York Times should be a “truth vigilante.”

He wrote: “I’m looking for reader input on whether and when New York Times news reporters should challenge ‘facts’ that are asserted by newsmakers they write about.”

This caused pretty much everyone on the Internet to flip out, with responses ranging from “Yes!” to “Why the f$%^ aren’t you doing this already?” to “Doesn’t the current model just make your reporters note-takers?” to “Did someone from The Onion plant an article in the New York Times because this reads like an Onion article, not something written by the public editor of the nation’s newspaper of record, oh, God, the horror, (GUNSHOT).”

The Humor Columnist, who is an actual journalist with a journalism diploma and everything, was among those outraged, which inspired what is no doubt the first ever Arthur Brisbane meme.
